Despite a potential pay freeze for federal employees in 2021, Congress approved a 1 percent increase for federal employees on the GS pay scale. This was not good news in a rising inflation environment, and especially since members of the armed forces will see their 2021 military pay scales increase by 3%.

In a surprising move, President Obama reversed his previous proposal for a 1.6% wage increase from August 2016.
