Official tables are issued by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), including the pay tables for 55 positions linked below. The average local salary increase is 0.5%, but varies by geographic region.
Federal employees on the GS pay scale received an overall base pay increase of 2.2% for 2022, with an additional local pay adjustment of 0.5%, for an overall average increase of 2.7%.
These changes took effect on January 1, 2022. This increase is twice the increase in the average salary in 2021, reflecting the higher cost of living.

Federal Pay Scale 2023 (government Gs Pay Scale)
Despite a potential pay freeze for federal employees in 2021, Congress approved a 1 percent raise for federal employees on the GS pay scale. This was not good news in an environment where inflation was rising and members of the armed forces in particular saw a 3% increase in their military pay for 2021.

[November 2020 Update] President Trump has proposed a 1% GS wage increase for 2021, but with a poor economy and low inflation, many expect even smaller increases or possibly no increases at all.
